Anthony Martinez aka “Lens” is a photographer and native New Yorker who captures beautiful and authentic images of his environment. From extreme weather to illustrations of wealth and poverty, gritty closeups of worn street surfaces feel surprisingly at home next to slick high-rises.

Subway stations, landmarks and people are common protagonists of his work, each subject enshrined by Anthony’s natural ability to focus on moments and perspectives which embody the city’s unique character. There’s a comfort and consistency with each shot, providing a sublime, yet connected look at the polar extremes that often define City life.

Anthony describes the creative process in his own words:

“I’ve lived in New York my whole life. It’s not easy or for the faint of heart, but this city offers many gifts to those who are willing to endure its accelerated pace. Among them is a constant source of inspiration which prompts me to take my camera wherever I go. I’ve found that my best work lives in the moment. No planning. No rigidity. That’s how you thrive here - that’s where the magic happens.”
