Alejandra Atarés captures the color of the natural world and beyond in this series of paintings and portraits. The beauty of plants in particular hold a strong presence throughout each piece, which often serves as a backdrop for female observers, whose bold, floral prints, blending the subjects in with the vivid motif.
There’s an atmosphere of self-discovery with a strong sense of the artist exploring her craft and pushing boundaries with materials like neon paint, holographic papers and even glitter or sequins into masterfully executed compositions.
In various interviews, Alejandra speaks at length about her motivation and the factors which drive her work:
“My work is inspired by everything around me. It could be a trip, an era, or a person/character which serves as the means of communication. To live, I need the most thoughtful part of a human being - to spend hours in my studio thinking about what does or doesn’t interest me. I find myself, I lose myself, I wonder why I do this, and other things. All of it, is expressed through painting.”All images courtesy of Alejandra Atarés
