The Surreal Paintings of Alex Hall

While many artists create from a space of confidence, Nashville artist Alex Hall  embraces uncertainty in this series of surreal and evocative paintings. The duality of choice becomes personified as Alex depicts figures, often solitary at the crossroads of life - all facing a critical moment of decision, or lack thereof. 

Whether pulled apart by diametrically opposed forces, spun in circles or taken in literal black and white terms, the subjects wrestle with their own inner conflict, often to their own loss of balance, with many of them free falling or moving forward blindly. It’s a unique and engaging look at free will, the power of the mind, and the human condition.
