Glasgow artist Jack Daly combines a love for graphics, typography and architecture in this series of fetching digital illustrations. Jack’s minimal style places emphasis on symmetry and iconic layouts which lend themselves naturally to book covers or editorial layouts due to how efficiently self-contained they are. While he tends to opt for more saturated hues, Daly also has a penchant for limiting the spectrum of his palettes to create cohesive themes that live in their own moody worlds of color. By far one of our favorite projects is his “Wanderlust Alphabet”, the perfect showcase for an artist who straddles multiple disciplines with a unique sense of understated style.
Whether it’s a celebrity portrait, random buildings or fun with fonts, Daly effectively distills his subjects down to their core essence, eschewing noise and details in favor of clarity and simple forms. The dominance of one-point and isometric perspectives bestows a schematic lean to these vignettes - a technical aesthetic which is handsomely complimented by thoughtful choices of color and composition.
