Belgian photographer Manon Wethly puts a dynamic spin on her craft in this series of high-speed photographs of flying liquids and powders. Manon does countless takes as she flings wine glasses, cups of milk and bowls of paint into the air with exaggerated rotation to maximize the surface tension of her medium, revealing how beautifully strange liquids behave when torque and force are applied, and one has the shutter speed and skill to capture such a precise moment in time.
It is interesting to see the intricate and seemingly deliberate forms that rise from pushing one’s media to its physical limits. Some forms appear almost alien in nature, others have elements of marine biology - a hint at the forms our world creates through a much longer span of time.
