California artist Andrew Myers puts a lot of patience and creativity into his award winning paintings and sculptures. Using thousands of philip’s head screws, some paint and a lot of imagination, Andrew builds convincing sill life images and portraits with expressive realism. By drilling the screws in at various lengths, he also creates a three dimensional topography which matches the image; adding both a tactile and interactive aspect to his pieces.
Andrew shares one of his most defining moments as an artist, watching a blind man experience his work for the first time:
“As the man ran his hands over a large three-dimensional portrait tediously constructed with tens of thousands of screws over hundreds of man hours, his blank expression suddenly transformed into a warm smile. He could feel what others could only see.”All images courtesy of Andrew Myers. View more at his home page or visit him on Instagram, Facebook, Youtube .
